Three Things

Having a weekend with people visiting and am making the effort to spend more time Doing The Thing and less time on the internet or in front of my computer. Call it the same rationale behind the whole messing with a film camera thing, call it trying to be in the moment. Whatever.

In any case, here are three things I’ve been enjoying recently, and why:

Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, movie

I love tabletop RPGs. This movie feels like an adventure in one of those brought to life, complete with odd party bickering, over-engineered plans, and rampant hijinks. It also manages to be incredibly funny while still doing some solid character work. All in all, great time.

Ted Lasso, tv show

It’s back. I love it. I don’t want it to end.

1Q84 by Haruki Murakami

Murakami is an author who I haven’t read as much of as I should. His books are… odd, and there are a multitude of caveats I put to this (with no small part being Murakami’s sexual politics). But his prose reads like poetry and reading 1Q84 was a joy. It kinda falls apart in its third act, but man, if it wasn’t fun.
