At this point the intermittent existence of actual essays on this blog could become a topic unto itself.
But yes, between a very busy work week and a weekend trip I’m leaving for in… a few minutes, I’m once again doing a cop-out post. Because I want there to be something on this blog at least.
Main thing I’ve been doing in my downtime has been playing Star Wars: Outlaws, whichcontinues to be a lot of fun — the game does a really good job of letting you inhabit Star Wars. It’s fun to be zipping around Tatooine, grabbing jobs on the side, and exploring the planet while Star Wars-ing, which, really, is all I want from it. It’s oddly relaxing to be blasting pirates and playing Sabaac after a long day at work, who knew? I doubt the game would have nearly as much appeal to me without the Star Wars trappings (it’s prone to the bloat of open world games that frustrates me), but theming is a big part of why games work. Mario would probably be a lot less fun if it weren’t in the Mushroom Kingdom. So I will continue to enjoy Outlaws, because I am Star Wars trash and I am okay with that.
In other news, a game best described as Star Wars XCOM just got announced, which is so terrifyingly up my alley I almost wonder if I’m being watched. Either way, expect that game to make an appearance on this blog at some point. Probably in between some cop-out posts.
